Suit Swap
For grooms, “five years ago we were selling 70 percent tuxedos and 30 percent suits,” said Colin Hunter, the chief executive and co-founder of Alton Lane, a bespoke men’s wear company. “Now we sell 70 percent suits — in rich blues, light grays and sharkskin — and 30 percent tuxedos.”
These suits have clean lines, a tapered look, and are created in a fabric that’s a four-season wool. “Men are also doing more British side tabs instead of belt loops,” Mr. Hunter said. Many grooms are also personalizing the stitching around the last buttonholes on their sleeves. “These are now being done in a different color stitch that incorporates the color of the wedding,” he said. “Maybe it’s the champagne color of her dress or the color red from their flowers.” Continue reading, compliments of the NY Times
Tony Bowls, style 301 Grey Portofino: Unleash your sophisticated side with this super-fine wool blend suit that’s polished to the last detail. The single button closure and black satin peak lapels are striking. Matching slim fit, flat-front pants complete the look.

The biggest decision is deciding between a suit or a tuxedo, and if you’re taking the latter route, we’ve rounded up the most stylish options out there for every budget and taste.
If you’re a classic kind of guy, you can’t go wrong with a timeless black tuxedo whether you’re all about slim-fit, satin lapels, or a velvet jacket. For a subtle color moment, gray and navy are always stylish while a white tuxedo makes a bigger (and very dapper) statement. If you’re the type to make daring fashion choices, your wedding is the perfect occasion to go bolder with your tuxedo look whether you’re into brighter colors like emerald green, burgundy, or bright blue, have a penchant for patterns, or like the look of dramatic details like oversized lapels, an exaggerated shawl collar, or a double-breasted jacket. Michael Kors, style 991 Ultra Slim Berkley: Tapered Venetian Super 130’s wool is the foundation of this lightweight and stylish modern tuxedo. Grosgrain double besom pockets match the notch lapel and buttons. Pair with a wool vest for a textured look. Slim fit styling makes this tux perfectly on-trend.
NYB&G Raleigh Is Your One-Stop Wedding Shop
Ordering a bridal gown, tuxedo or suit from a magazine or online store can be disastrous. Skip the guesswork and shop at NYB&G instead. You need to feel the fabrics, see the colors and try everything on to ensure that what you’re purchasing is exactly what you want. Nothing will be left to chance at our salon. Now, back to more wedding suit and tuxedo considerations:
While there are some men who absolutely love a good suit (AKA the Barney Stinsons of the world), a great many guys tend to feel uncomfortable in the classic wedding day attire. This is for two main reasons: a borrowed or rented suit will never be quite as comfy as your own clothes, and most standard suits and tuxes appear quite boxy. It’s hard to feel your best when you don’t look the part!
In 2020, grooms can avoid the struggle of the boxy suit by opting instead for a slim fit style. This suit features a more narrow cut that uses less fabric than the standard style, removing the excess bulk for a more flattering look.
And for the record, everyone can wear slim fit suits — even the big and tall grooms! Just work with a tailor (or the associate at your rental shop) to find a suit that fits well and flatters your body. Continue reading, compliments of Wedding Bee
